American Bar Association: A national organization that serves as the largest voluntary organization of lawyers in the world
Alamance County Community Remembrance Coalition: A county-wide branch of the national organization, Equal Justice Initiative, that seeks to memorialize lynching victims and publicize the difficult history of the United States.
Alamance County NAACP: A county-wide branch of the national organization that seeks to “insure Black Lives are a priority in all spaces.”
American Public Health Association: A national organization that “champions the health of all people and all communities.”
Citizen Science Association: A national organization that seeks to engage the public at large in all forms of scientific research.
Clean Water for North Carolina: a state-wide organization that seeks “to promote clean, safe water and environments and empowered, just communities for all North Carolinians through community organizing, education, advocacy and technical assistance.”
Duke University Environmental Law and Policy Clinic: an organization within Duke University’s law school which seeks to “train the next generation of leaders to solve environmental problems and provide access to justice in underserved communities.”
Environmental Defense Fund: a national organization that seeks to “take on climate change and other grave threats by identifying what’s most urgent and where we can make the most difference.”
Haw River Assembly: A regional organization that seeks to protect the Haw River, which passes through Alamance County, from pollution.
Melfield United Church of Christ: Located in Haw River, NC, this is Omega and Brenda Wilson’s personal church and it features one of Alamance County’s largest food pantries.
National Wildlife Federation: A national organization that seeks to protect all of America’s natural resources.
North Carolina Conservation Network: a state-wide organization that seeks to create “diverse groups to engage in environmental policy decision-making at all levels of government – creating a North Carolina committed to improving and protecting the state’s vast natural resources, fostering environmental justice, and ensuring healthy, sustainable communities with a high quality of life.”
North Carolina Environmental Justice Network: A state-wide organization that seeks to “work with low income communities and people of color on issues of climate, environmental, racial, and social injustice.”
Southern Environmental Law Center: A national organization that seeks to “protect the basic right to clean air, clean water, and a livable climate; to preserve our region’s natural treasures and rich biodiversity; and to provide a healthy environment for all.”
Union of Concerned Scientists: A national organization that seeks “to use rigorous, independent science to solve our planet’s most pressing problems.”
We Act for Environmental Justice: A national organization based out of Harlem, New York that seeks “to build healthy communities by ensuring that people of color and/or low income residents participate meaningfully in the creation of sound and fair environmental health and protection policies and practices.”
